Online Courses

Our online courses are designed to let you go at your own pace.  They include a manual and detailed instructions.  When you are ready, you will complete a short exam (both written and practical) and receive your certification on that topic.

If you complete the required courses for Wilderness Specialist, you will receive the Wilderness Specialist Patch.  This patch can only be achieved by completing the courses.

Courses:

Wilderness Survival Shelters:  The manual provides detailed instruction on the construction of basic survival shelters.  Easy to read instructions guide you on using the materials from the environment you are in as well as ideas of items to have in your pack or survival kit.  After reading the manual and practicing the practical application.  You will be sent a quiz to take.  After completion of the quiz and practical, you will be sent a certification in Wilderness Shelter Construction.  (Required course for Wilderness Specialist Certification)  Cost: $20 (Can be ordered on Supplies/Equipment section)



Wilderness Water/Food Collection:  This manual provides detailed instructions on the construction of water stills/ water collection and food sources.  Easy to read instructions guide you setting up water collection stills and finding food if in a Survival situation.  After reading the manual and practicing the techniques, you will be sent a quiz to take.  After completion of the quiz and practical, you will be sent a certification in Wilderness Water/Food Collection.  (Required course for Wilderness Specialist Certification)  Cost:  $20 (Can be ordered on Supplies/Equipmnet section)

Wilderness Basic Medicine:  This manual covers the basics of Wilderness and Survival medicine.  General topics include splinting, slings, hydration, lacerations, dislocations, etc.  After reading the manual and practicing the techniques, you will be sent a quiz to take.  After completion of the quiz and practical, you will be sent a certification in Wilderness Basic Medicine.  (Required course for Wilderness Specialist Certification)  Cost:  $20 (Can be ordered on Supplies/Equipment section)

Wilderness Basic Navigation:  This manual covers the basics of Wilderness Navigation with a compass.  Great, easy to use tips will make you feel comfortable in the woods.  After reading the manual and practicing the techniques, you will be sent a quiz to take.  After completion of the quiz and practical, you will be sent a certification in Wilderness Basic Navigation.  (Required course for Wilderness Specialist Certification)  Cost:  $20  (Can be ordered on Supplies/Equipment section)





Wilderness Specialist:  After completion of the required courses, you can apply for this final course.  Topics include a variety of Survival Techniques, Survival and Wilderness Advanced Tips, and Tracking.  A final exam is sent to you.  After completion, you will receive the Wilderness Specialist Certification and Patch.  Cost:  $20.  This item cannot be ordered without approval of Wilderness Specialists Education Director.
